The Cooks River Community Collective is a working group of community members and representatives from local groups who are working together to improve the health of the Cooks River and its catchment. They meet regularly to share information and discuss challenges, and they are supported by the Cooks River Alliance. Individuals and community groups within the Cooks River catchment who want to contribute to a healthier river environment can get in touch with the Collective.
- Purpose: To improve the Cooks River and its surrounding community through collaboration and collective action.
- Membership: Consists of community representatives from across the river’s catchment, including individuals and members of various community groups.
- Activities: They hold regular meetings to discuss challenges and opportunities for the river and its catchment. Recently, they hosted a forum on November 8, 2025, to discuss issues like stormwater pollution and the effects of concrete channelization.
- Support: The Collective is supported by the Cooks River Alliance, a partnership of local councils and Sydney Water that works to improve the river’s health.

Community forum brings residents from across the Cooks River catchment
The CRCC held a public meeting on 8th November 2025 to discuss the major issues facing the health of the Cooks River – arguably Australia’s most polluted river.
Over 200 community members from across the Cooks River Catchment attended and resolved to further pursue improving the health and local amenity provided by our river.
