The Cooks River is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, with:

·Exquisite riverside walkways from Botany Bay through to Homebush Bay

· amazing rock formations and magnificent foreshores

· wonderful parks and community facilities

Total population in the catchment is about 500,000 people.

But the river suffers from serious pollution and poor management practices.

No single government agency is responsible for the health of this wonderful urban river. Over the course of its 23 km the Cooks passes through 8 local councils. Its catchment takes in another 5.

The Cooks River Valley Association [CRVA] has taken up the challenge of restoring the River to its former glory, giving effective voice to the concerns of local residents and participating in the natural resource management of the River.

The Mudcrabs are the volunteer action arm of the CRVA focusing on bush regeneration and litter removal.
